It’s not 1, it’s not 2 but 3 times a winner - ŠKODA breaks records at the 2016 WhatCar? Awards

ŠKODA scoops 3 category awards and 6 price awards making it ŠKODA’s most successful year at the WhatCar? awards to date.

The Fabia came out on top for an impressive second year running being crowned overall winner of 2016 Small Car of the Year awards.

What Car? Editorial director Jim Holder commented “The Fabia is a car that won’t leave those downsizing wanting; it’s well built, spacious, refined and is offered with a wide range of modern features and safety equipment. For the money, no other small car is as capable.”

ŠKODA’s incredible success continued with the ŠKODA Octavia 1.2 TSI SE. The Octavia saw off tough competition to scoop the 2016 Family Car title for an impressive third time in a row. Despite the arrival of new contenders in this key category, the What Car? judges had no hesitation in choosing the Octavia praising its practicality, exceptional interior space and high equipment levels.

Completing the hat trick in category awards is the ŠKODA Superb 2.0 TDI SE Business. The all new Superb was crowned overall winner in the Estate category, the design and practically were amongst the features that WhatCar? Judges found hard to resist.

What Car? Jim Holder commented “Five adults will have no trouble getting comfortable for a long journey, and the boot is so big that none of them will have to pack light. It also gets neat touches such as a removable torch in the boot and Velcro dividers to stop stuff rolling around when you’re on the move. It really does feel like they’ve thought of everything that makes a great estate car”.

ŠKODA was on top form again at the price point category winners. The price point category by WhatCar? Is designed to provide drivers with the best choices in a fixed price range.  Once again, ŠKODA beat off the competition with six price point champions - more than any other manufacturer.

Best City Car was awarded to the ŠKODA Citigo in the under £10,000 bracket, meanwhile the Fabia hatch was named best small car under £15,000 and the Fabia estate took the praise for the best car under £18,000 in the estate category.

Moving upwards in size and price, the Octavia 1.2 TSI was named best family car under £19,000. The Superb hatch 2.0 TDI SE business was overall winner in the Compact Executive Car Sector (under £25,000). Meanwhile the Superb Estate 2.0TSI SE business completed ŠKODA’s impressive evening at the awards with victory in the £18,000 - £25,000 price bracket.
